Thoughts On Macbook-Pro Retina

Hello guys! I want to here your thoughts on the new Macbook-Pro Retina!

  • Amazing New Display
  • Thunderbolt Port
  • Great Specs
  • 7 hour Battery Life
  • HDMI (Great because its a thiner machine)
  • Display (Can go up to) 2560 by 1600 pixels
  • 720p FaceTime HD camera
  • Flash Storage

  • Only one size (15 Inch)
  • Only one headphone port (bothers be because I love my microphone on my headset. Although you can just buy a spliter).

One thing I was hoping for it for Apple to release this when OS X Mountain Lion was released but it is definitely configured for this new update in our Mac operating system.

I would love for you guys to tell me your opinion.

4GB these days is bare minimum for a normal machine and not sufficient for a top of the line machine. 4GB may be OK on the Air (even then it’s not much) but 8GB I would say is the minimum for the MBP.

17" is no more because it made up less than 2% of Apple’s laptop sales.

2 USB is what MBPs have had for years (other than the 17" which had 3 for a time). Can’t say I’ve ever had to plug more than 2 USB devices in at once and if I had to, there are cheap $5 USB hubs for that (carry one in my laptop backpack).

No many people need dual headphone plugs. How many laptops offer dual headphone plugs? If you really need a 2nd one, get a splitter. They’re $2.99 at RadioShack.

Lack of Mountain Lion is OK. You get the upgrade for free when it’s released if you buy a MBP now.

Yes I have the Macbook Pro 15inch from 2011 and I only have two USB but I like how mine are on the same side. My own opinion . But great opinion!

One thing I completely agree on. But when I purchased my Macbook Pro with 4gbs last year cause I just use it for DJing and producing. But like my Gaming computer has 16gbs of ram.

No, I won’t be buying one because it’s still a little too early and non-retina apps/webpages look like crap on the new display. All MBP’s have a thunderbolt port, 7 hour battery life, 720p camera and with an adapter can do HDMI out.

Most single headphone jacks on MBPs can control microphones too, as long as the headset you have doesn’t have 2 plugs. Singular plug headphones with mics will work just fine.

8GB is definitely the minimum you’d want to run comfortably. Sure, you can do 4gb, but I don’t see this as a "con".

I completely agee with you. Thats why I said not so much bad but for customization. Great opinion!

I have updated the list. If you have any pros or cons to add I would love to put them on the list

My Mid 2010 15" i5 is still going strong. I’d probably upgrade to an SSD before buying a new MBP. My AppleCare is good till Christmas of 2013 and I plan to keep it past it.
