Saving outlook reminders/emails

Does anybody know how to do this for microsoft outlook? I need to reformat my computer and I really do not want to lose all my reminders/emails. I know this can be done by saving certain files however I’m not sure which ones.

Thanks

Also, don’t forget to grab your outlook.nk2 file as that’s the one that contains your autocomplete entries from the to and cc boxes.

Thanks..
What about the reminders. Isn’t there a file holding that information. I’ll be honest I’m more worried about the reminders than e-mails.

You should backup the whole app data folder that outlook has just in case. I am happy that I did that since I wasn’t able to restore the email in newer version of outlook correctly, but mozilla thunderbird was able to make sense of the whole folder outlook used to use.

I didn’t know about this one.
Well, now I know.
And knowing is half the battle.

There is the real solution. In bold. Italic.

It can also become corrupt if it gets too big

I have had to delete that file before.

Generally I can’t think of any technical complaints with Microsoft’s Office suite. But Outlook has always had issues.

I don’t really get why they’ve stuck with the NK2 file for as long as they have – people use it as their contact list which is just stupid. Almost as stupid as using the deleted items bin as an archive.

i hate that. i always forget to add back in that file when i default someone’s account or they switch computers

then they call back in and say they can’t send any emails….

It’s part of our back up script – copies favorites, NK2 file and their desktop (under 1 meg files only tho)
