this is what I have
Model Name: Mac mini
Model Identifier: Macmini5,1
Processor Name: Intel Core i5
Processor Speed: 2.3 GHz
Number of Processors: 1
Total Number of Cores: 2
L2 Cache (per Core): 256 KB
L3 Cache: 3 MB
Memory: 8 GB
with a 27 inch view sonic monitor..
Just pulled the trigger and bought the 2.3GHz quad-core i7 mini. Ordered 16GB of RAM from newegg as they have 15% off all laptop RAM plus free 2-day shipping with ShopRunner (ends today if you want to get in on the deal). Also ordered the kit from OWC to add the 2nd hard drive. Throwing my 500GB Momentus XT in there (one of those drives with 8GB of flash memory on it too). Think I’ll sell my old mini (original Intel Core Duo) for like $150 on CL. Just needed a machine to get me through until the new MBPs hit (I’m sure it’ll just be a speed bump after the big release on the last ones going to Retina displays). Continue reading Mac mini 2012→
This is a repost from the main, but I figured I’d post it here for more knowledgeable replies.
My shell scripting class started today, we’re starting out with bash (but only for the first week or so).
We got our first lab, and I’d like to have someone who is experienced with bash I can PM for help as needed.
The lab is basically to accept user input, then generate random numbers to create "lottery tickets" where the MaxValue of the numbers, the number of values per ticket, and the number of UNIQUE tickets generated are all user-specified. Continue reading Anyone here good with bash scripting?→
What I’m trying to do is easy enough in thought, and I’m pretty sure I’ve seen this in a corporate setting but anyways what I’m looking to do is..
I run a business business, and I have one customer support employee. She answers the customer support e-mails that come to her via Outlook 2007 on her computer that we have setup for a few different e-mail accounts – all of which she answers.
I’m using the windows remote Desktop feature to log into touch screen displays (WinXP Machines) on my network. It works great except that whenever I use it logs the user out of windows and they can’t log on as there is no keyboard.
It logs the user off as soon as I log in. Is there a way to prevent this from happening. I didn’t see any options to prevent this from happening.

I live in the dorms and it gets really, really, really loud sometimes. Can someone recommend good pair of earbuds that pretty much blocks out all outside noise?
Any way to disable the mouseover tooltip in Chrome? When I move the mouse or scroll on OT and other forums the popup refreshes instantly and I find it annoying and distracting. Any way to disable this or delay it? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
I have a bunch of DVDs that I would love to store on my media server and get rid of, but I’m not sure what the best program to do this would be. Thoughts?
