Two monitors with MacBook Pro?

Is there a way to run two external monitors from a MacBook Pro? I want to get rid of my desktop, but I need a second monitor…

I believe there’s a USB adapter that you could use to attach a second external monitor, the performance isn’t great though.

Yeah you can buy a Diamond BVU195. The performance is fine, regular video is sometimes a little choppy and you can’t watch HD video on it, but other than that I’ve never had any problems with it at all.

How do I recover files from a corrupt drive?

A couple of months ago I switched out a hard drive in my parents’ computer. The HDD just took a shit on them, wouldn’t boot into windows or anything. I can’t remember the error it was giving me. Anyways, I just got them a new drive and called it a day. In the old drive they had a ton of pics they wish to recover. How do I go about that?

Plug it in as a secondary drive and see if it spins up and you can access it.

Damn, my SATA cable only has one connection.

Trying to make a cheaper build, how’s this?

AMD Athlon II X2 260 3.2 GHz 65w – $72
MSI 880 GM-E43 AM3 DDR micro ATX motherboard – $80
ADATA gaming series 4GB DDR3 1600 – $89
TOTAL: ~$240-250

Trying to stay under or around $300 for those three components (cpu, ram, mobo)

I have many sata hard drives, I plan to use a 300GB one for the main drive, and I have a 500w psu that’s operational. I just picked up my free copy of W7 from the school….so I think I have everything I need.

Steve Jobs: you skinny AIDS victim, stop being a douchenozzle with Apple TV

Dear Mr. Jobs,

All rental model? Seriously? FAIL.

Why the sweet fancy fuck can’t I buy the content and store it on my computer via direct download and then stream it to AppleTV or distribute the content to my other devices (like the iPhone and iPad I gave your scrawny ass a bunch of money for).

Fuck you, you skinny bag of dicks.

Sincerely,
J. Chimpo

And another thing, the iTunes store blows away other services for content availability and speed of distribution, so why the hell do you keep putting such a shitty ass device as the front end for TV and Movie content???

Need help picking a laptop

I’ve currently moved out of country and only have my tiny Asus eeepc with me for a PC. I’ve just landed a job and it seems my stay out of country will be long term (1-2 years). As such, I’m looking to get a new system. I would prefer a laptop, as I’d like to be able to move it easily when I eventually go back home. I’m looking to spend $1000-1400.

Now, on to what I’d like to accomplish with said system. For one, I’d like to be able to game on it. I’d like to play games like TF2, Batman AA, BF:BC2, WoW, on high settings and newer titles on the high to mid range settings.

Best way to sell old PC components.

I’ve got a Core 2 Duo overclocked to 3.0GHz, 4GB 800MHz RAM, an EVGA motherboard, an Nvidia 8800GT and an arctic cooling cpu fan that I need to sell.

Would you, in order to make the most money:

A) Sell everything separately.
B) Sell it all together.
C) Sell motherboard, cpu, ram and fan together and the card separately.
D) Other.

I also have no boxes for any of this stuff anymore.

Oh and where to sell it? Ebay, Gumtree (like craigslist for the UK), or I can take the whole lot down cash converters which is basically a pawn shop.

so how does putting windows on a mac work (without vmware)?

bootcamp basically just partitions the drive so you can dual-boot, right? does it make you boot into osx then switch to windows? or is it legit?

are there decent options other than bootcamp?

Essentially, I’d like to never know that the computer even has OSX unless I want to boot into it for network programming in the terminal or something. 99.9999% of the time, I’d only use windows7. if there’s a foolproof way to replace osx with windows, I’m down with that unless it would void a warranty on the hardware.
